Of course, there is much more to look forward to for this lovable series. Fans have been eagerly waiting to see if Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and Lea (Paige Spara) will walk down the aisle after a major wrinkle during the Nov. 22 episode, when the couple fought over Lea manipulating Shaun’s patient satisfaction scores, which he said was unacceptable. In fact, he tells her point-blank, “I can’t marry you.” Friedman, who will join David Shoreas a co-showrunner in Season 6, tells Parade, “I believe that Shaun and Lea are meant for each other and I think they are going to find their way to happiness. It’s not going to be exactly the way the audience expects, but it is going to happen,” she explains. “When there is a love like theirs and a relationship like theirs—which has real complications and obstacles—they gravitate toward each other and we are going to continue to see that. There are going to be more twists and turns. But people who are waiting for a wonderful happy ending for these two are not going to be disappointed!” Can Shaun and Lea patch things up and have that romantic wedding that we’ve long been waiting for? Read on for everything we know so far about Season 5 of The Good Doctor.

What else will happen in Season 5 of The Good Doctor?
Shore told TVLine that Season 5 will explore how things change. “All of a sudden, [Shaun and Lea] are looking at a lifetime together,” he explained. “We’ll see how that affects feelings and how that affects the relationship.” While these two are hoping for their happily-ever-after, there are other relationships blossoming and some that are on the rocks. The show will explore the dynamic between Morgan and Park, who recently became a couple. “One thing you don’t want to give up when you make a couple a couple is what made them so fantastic before,” Shore explains. “We don’t want to lose that working dynamic. We want to keep enjoying that. But things do change, and they are very, very different people, which makes their relationship tricky to navigate.” The show looks at the newly single Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) whose wife Debbie (real-life wife Sheila Kelley, now on Disney Plus’ Turner & Hooch), split over his overprotectiveness, including keeping a gun in their house. Also, Andrews is now a bachelor, and they have their failed marriages in common. “We are going to have the two of them cross paths a little bit more [as] they are in similar situations,” Shore says. “But they’re not naturally buddies.”

Season 4 began with the hospital being hit by a cyberattack that threatens to shut down life-saving machines. Lea rises to the challenge by looking to outsmart the hackers.
