The upcoming tour—set to kick off in 2023—went on presale exclusively for selected fans on Tuesday, Nov. 15, with a 6-ticket limit for each presale code. Not only were fans initially up in arms on Monday night for those Swifties who didn’t receive one of the coveted presale codes, but matters seemed to grow even worse once the presale actually began. Thousands of fans were placed in an online queue with over 2000 people in front of them, only for the site to end up crashing, causing Ticketmaster to pause the queue and leave many people sitting at their computers for hours while their place in line didn’t budge. Others were booted out of their place in line completely, while some codes even proved to be completely faulty and didn’t earn them presale access at all. In some cases, fans were finally able to get access to the presale after hours of waiting only to find that all the presale tickets were sold out. While the Verified Fan presale attempts to ensure that tickets get into the hands of actual fans, rather than resellers who will jack up the prices, there seems to have been a “glitch” in the system, as thousands of tickets are already available for resale at egregious prices (Think 25K for a floor seat!). Now, tons of Swifties are taking to social media to commiserate about the chaotic experience, especially after Ticketmaster issued a statement claiming, “There has been historically unprecedented demand with millions showing up to buy tickets for the TaylorSwiftTix Presale.” But fans couldn’t help but point out that Verified Fans with access to the presale were selected exclusively by Ticketmaster itself the night prior, meaning that the ticket sales company knew exactly how many codes were sent out, and therefore could have expected the overwhelming turnout. As thousands of angry Swift fans grab their “pitchforks and proof” while taking aim at the ticket sales giant, a number of hilarious tweets have now brought a much-needed level of lightness to the messy situation. For a little comic relief, here are some of our favorite tweets from the fiasco: More News:
