In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the longtime actor and comedian admitted he was ready to wrap his career before Only Murders in the Building came along.  Martin, 76—who stars in the Hulu whodunnit comedy series alongside Selena Gomez and Martin Short—told the outlet he is still “having fun” doing comedy, including his live tour with Short, although there might be an end coming sometime in the future.  “There may be a natural end to that — somebody gets sick, somebody just wears out — but I wouldn’t do it without Marty,” he said of the pair’s stage show.  He also added that Only Murders will be his final role, stating, “When this television show is done, I’m not going to seek others. I’m not going to seek other movies. I don’t want to do cameos. This is, weirdly, it.”  “I have a family life that’s really fun,” Martin added. “To film a movie now, to go someplace else to live, I’m not willing to do that anymore. I can’t disappear for three months.”  But Martin’s fans don’t have to worry about saying goodbye to him just yet, as the Hulu sitcom was already renewed for a third season. Only Murders earned 17 Emmy nominations for its first season, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, with Martin and Short both up for the award. With his career still alive and well, the Pink Panther alum still seems to be far from slowing down as he is also gearing up for the release of an upcoming book and even a documentary about his life and career.  After finishing up the rest of his projects, Martin might be ready to retire, although he claims he may never fully stop working.  “My wife keeps saying, ‘You always say you’re going to retire and then you always come up with something,’” he stated, adding that he’s really not interested in the formal definition of “retiring,” but would instead just “work a little less.”  He’s keeping his options open, and there’s nothing wrong with that!
