Home-swappers can now plan a stay in Falstaff House, a traditional country cottage in the village of Alnwick Northumberland in northern England. The village is home to Alnwick Castle, which appeared as Brancaster Castle in two Downton Abbey Christmas specials. The show filmed in the castle’s staterooms, as well as around the grounds, the surrounding parklands and in the nearby Hulne Abbey, according to the castle’s website.  The castle is a popular filming location, and also appeared in the first two Harry Potter movies, 1998’s Elizabeth, 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight, and several other films and shows. Falstaff House, a traditional stone cottage located near this famous filming site, is a Grade II listed structure, meaning it is a “Building of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.” While it’s a historically significant building on the outside, it features modern decor and conveniences on the inside. With the new Downton Abbey movie sequel recently announced, a trip to the heart of a gorgeous Downton filming location sounds more appealing than ever. Launch the gallery to see Falstaff House and other pictures from around the cottage’s stunning countryside location.
