Unilever, a household name for bath and beauty products, issued a voluntary recall of 19 different dry shampoo products in an Oct. 18 press release. According to the official statement, Unilever recalled the products due to “potentially elevated levels of benzene.” The release explained that while benzene is a known carcinogen, the levels detected in the recalled products would not be expected to cause adverse health problems, even with daily use. That said, Unilever still advises consumers to stop using the affected aerosol dry shampoo products and visit UnileverRecall.com for instructions on how to receive reimbursement for eligible products. Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of this product may be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by fax. The recalled products were produced prior to October 2021 and distributed nationwide in the United States, retailers have been notified to remove recalled products from shelves. The affected brands include Dove, Nexxus, Suave, Rockaholic, Bed Head and TRESemmé; the list of the recalled dry shampoos can be found below:
