Is there a Marvel What If trailer?
Way back in December 2020, Marvel Entertainment’s official YouTube account dropped a first-look preview of What If…? in which Wright’s narrator explains, “Time. Reality—it’s more than a linear path. It’s a prism of endless possibility.” The trailer features numerous alternate realities, including Peggy Carter as Captain Carter, King T’Challa kidnapped from Earth by Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy, a zombie Captain America throwing his shield at the Winter Soldier and Dr. Strange fighting another version of himself. In another trailer, Black Panther baddie Eric Killmonger saves Tony Stark’s life, King T’Challa becomes Star-Lord, the battle of New York features the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor, Captain America and Iron Man are zombies—and more. In another featurette, Wright explains the general premise of the series and how it relates to the MCU multiverse: “Every passing moment is a chance for a new offshoot. A new variation. In fact, there are more realities than you can possibly fathom. An infinite number of ‘what ifs’… As the voice of the Watcher in Marvel’s What If…?, I can see what few others an; the totality of the multiverse across all time and space. The stories you thought you knew are nothing like you remember. Familiar faces in unfamiliar roles, a captain no one expected, and foes who became friends.”

Who is Uatu The Watcher?
Uatu The Watcher is the main character of Marvel’s What If…? who narrates a new glimpse at the multiverse as he sees it. Uatu is part of an alien race known as The Watchers, who observe multiple realities as outsiders and vow to never interfere with what they see. (In the comics, Uatu the Watcher breaks that vow regularly, often to help the Fantastic Four!) Wright explained to iO9that Uatu The Watcher is, at his core, the biggest Marvel fan there is. “It’s his life’s passion to observe and connect with them—with their heroism, with their flaws,” he explained. “Without them, he’s nothing in some regard. He adores them and is compelled by them in a way that gives him purpose, and gives his life meaning.” He added, “In some ways, I think that the passion behind fans’ connection to these characters [comes from] this level of trust, understanding, and hope that is imbued in them in a way that maybe is not found outside of this mythology. The deepness of that connection, I think, for fans is a powerful one, and also for the Watcher.”
How will Marvel’s What If affect the multiverse?
Remember the end of Loki, when a slew of different timelines was opened and exposed to the viewer? What If…? will explore a lot of those through the eyes of Uatu The Watcher. Each episode of What If…? is self-contained and the series is in an anthology format. Marvel has said that What If…? is canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it remains to be seen what exactly that will entail and how it will affect the MCU and its timelines as we currently know them.
Is Peggy Carter in Marvel What If?
Not only is Peggy Carter in What If…?, but she also plays one of the most pivotal roles. In What If…?, one of the alternate timelines in the Marvel multiverse sees Agent Carter take the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers, who instead rocks an Iron Man-style suit. Instead of Captain America, we have Captain Carter, and she has at least some sort of relationship (that we know of so far) with Uatu The Watcher. The show will revisit her stories in both seasons. “We realized as we started developing the second season that Captain Carter was going to be the character we would revisit in every season, and continue that adventure,” executive producer Brad Winderbaum told Gizmodo. “Obviously, we’re telling a story on a giant multiversal canvas. So you never really know who’s going to pop up where and when. It’s very much an anthology, but there’s always an opportunity for fun connections to be made.”
What happens in the Marvel What If comics?
Marvel’s What If…? comics have a lot of elements that we may or may not see in the animated series. One scenario revealed in the trailers is Marvel Zombies, which sees the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe traveling across worlds to feed on living beings. Other What If…? scenarios from the comics include Spider-Man growing extra arms, Spider-Man joining the Fantastic Four (making them the Fantastic Five), The Punisher hosting the Venom symbiote, Gwen Stacy surviving, Wolverine joining S.H.I.E.L.D., Jessica Jones joining the Avengers, Thor working for Galactus, The Punisher taking on the Mafia in the Prohibition era, Norman Osborne taking over Asgard and Ultron time-traveling to kill Hank Pym.
