In the UK that is, for Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations this week. Duchess Meghan andPrince Harry travelled from California to London yesterday, where they and their two children Archie and Lilibet were picked up in a car sent by the monarch. We had our first glimpse of Meghan looking radiant in a window of the Major General’s Office, from where she and Harry watched the Trooping the Colour parade. Adorably, both Meghan and Harry appeared to be playing with some of the royal children by playfully holding fingers to their lips. Peter Phillips’ daughters Savannah (11) and Isla (10) as well as Zara and Mike Tindall’s daughters Mia (8) and Lena (3) were all clustered in front of Meghan at the window, but it doesn’t seem as if the Sussexes’ own children were present. Meghan wore a navy dress with the bateau-style neckline that she was so fond of during her time as a senior member of the royal family, and a broad-brimmed hat balanced out by a massive navy bow. As only working royals were invited to stand with the queen for their traditional appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, the Sussexes are missing from the line-up this year. Duchess Kate stood out in a white coat dress by Alexander McQueen that she paired with a navy saucer-esque hat and the sapphire and diamond earrings that Princess Diana wore during her famous dance with John Travolta at the White House. All three of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children appeared on the balcony, with four-year-old Prince Louis dressed in the same sailor suit that his fatherPrince Williamwore to the Trooping the Colour in 1985. Aww! Before appearing on the balcony, Louis rode through the streets in a carriage with his brother Prince George and sister Princess Charlotte, as well as Duchess Kate and Duchess Camilla. We’ll see the royals reunited later this week at a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, at which Meghan and Harry are scheduled to attend. Next up, It’s Not Just the Brits!
