According to the BBC, the label she affixed to the tin read, “Handle with Care—Prince Charles & Princess Diane’s [sic] Wedding Cake,” which she then signed and wrote the date “27 July 1981.” After being sold to a collector in 20o8, the cake went up for auction where it was expected to fetch no more than $500 ($691).
