Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman will produce the project. They worked with Cher on the Mamma Mia! sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. It’s unclear if Cher is attached to appear in the project or what parts of her life the film will cover. The ageless “Believe” chanteuse is the latest in a slew of music legends to be honored with a biopic. Biopics for The Bee Gees, Elvis Presley, Madonna and Whitney Houston are in the works. Elton Johnbiopic Rocketmanwas critically acclaimed, while Bohemian Rhapsody won star Rami Malek a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Cher’s career has spanned nearly five decades thus far, including 26 studio albums, 10 compilation records and an acclaimed acting career. From her music breakout with ex-husband Sonny Bono to her Academy Award-winning turn in Moonstruck to a Las Vegas residency and more, the aptly titled “Goddess of Pop” has shown no signs of stopping anytime soon: Her next film, Artist In Residence, is currently in pre-production. She recently cameoed as a God-like figure in Pink’s music video for “All I Know So Far.” Cher recently said she’s eager to get back to work post-pandemic now that she’s vaccinated, but only if and when safety can be absolutely ensured. “I don’t want anyone to be in danger, including myself,” she explained. “They will find a way for us to do concerts and movies, and then I will be back.” When asked why Cher didn’t authorize a biopic earlier, her answer was simple: “I had more life to live.” We are unworthy!
